Another Great Day

Yesterday was even better than the previous Saturday. Michigan beat Penn State, as usual (though in a game that was way too close), and haven't been this hot since 1997 when they won the National Championship.

Far better, the Detroit Tigers beat the A's in four straight, ending the game with a 3-run homer. That's how you enter the World Series. They have a week off waiting to find out who they'll face. I'm hoping for the Cardinals, since we beat them in 1968, but some say been there, done that, bring on the Mets. In any case, it's already amazing they're in the World Series, and it's also amazing they'll be the favorites. I can't wait.

A Mets-Tigers match up would be great because it will offer the opportunity to beat New York twice in the post-season.

Interesting fact from a fan of a team which was a perennial loser like the Tigers of the 90s and early 00's. The Tigers coaching staff (including the manager) consists of almost 20 seasons of Pittsburgh Pirate managers (Leyland 86-96, Lamont 97-00, McClendon 01- September 05) which produced 3 playoff appearances (1990-92) & a grand total of 4 winning records (those years plus 1988) Are they smart or just lucky?

As for that 4th game, baseball just doesn't get any more exciting. Hope all you script writers took notes...
