Well, Duh

The Pentagon's "closely guarded review" of our options in Iraq boils down to three choices: more troops, less troops or we pull out completely.

Sure you want to go out on a limb like that?

It's like a doctor giving you medicine telling you if this makes a difference, you'll either get better or worse.

It will rain off and on for many years.

Long before Iran contra, George Will wrote a column about National Security Advisor Adm. Poindexter and he adopted the Pentagon strategy of providing three options, two of which were the extreme ends of the spectrum and the third was the the suggested course of action.

As in -its raining outside, so we can either A) Lock ourselves inside forever, B) cavort about naked in the precipitation or C) bomb Iran.

Jonah Goldberg had what I thought was a passable idea one year ago but is now past its sell-by date: let the Iraqis vote on whether to keep us or let us go.
