Juggling

Heroes introduced yet another "hero" last Monday. This time it's a young woman who works at a burger joint and can perform any skill she sees on TV. As noted last week, most of the new heroes are just repeating powers of the originals. This latest character is pretty reminiscent of first season's Charlie Andrews, who worked in a diner and could remember perfectly anything she saw.

There are also a huge number of plots going on at once. This is part of the appeal of the show, since it allows for a lot of action, but it also means they can't get all the characters in each episode. Last Monday's show had nothing about Peter, Hiro or Niki, while the new characters had plenty of screen time.

I thought the new character was pretty neat. Although it is reminicent of Charlie the waitres, I don't think I've ever heard of a superhero with this kind of physical photographic memory. I will be interested in seeing what she can do. For example, what if she witnesses a physical act that her body can't do as currently constructed (like lift a truck, let's say).

I give the show credit for coming up with abilities that I haven't seen in comics, TV or film before. Molly's ability to find anyone anywhere on a map is unique (though maybe it is just astral projection). There's the lady who can intercept radio and internet communications (and send email with her mind ). I'm not sure what Maya and her brotehr are really doing, but it will be fun to find out.
