A meeting of left and right

Some time ago QG sent me (and other Turing friends) a proposal he titled, "A welfare program we can all agree on?" or some such, and of course it was some socialistic, communistic, bedwetting nonsense (it might have been for the children); that's not important right now.

What's important is that I think I've found his golden thingy, the thing that will finally allow him to say, "Can't we all just get along?" and have some takers.

For those of us on the right, we'll finally have to agree to give up the ghost, and put the government in charge of everything.

For those of you on the left, you'll have to agree to put these test subjects in charge of all government.

And if the research was done right, everyone will be better off.

I'm in, so long as we can add another constitutional amendment protecting my right to throw feces.

And I'd love to see what proposal I thought we'd all possibly agree to, other than proposing to steam up another bushel of crabs. Heck, even then a certain senior statesman would complain about the Old Bay.

I remember someone once asking the question if you could make any Amendment to the Constitution, what would it be. We thought about it and realized if a law making it illegal to take skin color into account could be interpreted to mean you must take skin color into account, there was nothing we could add that couldn't be interpreted into its opposite.

For instance, an Amendment saying there shall be no death penalty. In a few years, no doubt, instead of sentencing criminals to death, they'd be nominating them for the "Death Award."

How about adding amendment 2a, the text of which would read "and by this we don't mean a collective right, or a right limited to the militia, but rather a right of every citizen to each own their own firearms."

Amendment 2.a.1: "and by own, we mean private ownership, with full possessory rights."

Yeah, I guess I see what you're getting at LA'G
