Prog Talk

More than once, Hillary has said she wouldn't call herself a liberal, but a progressive. She believes the world liberal has been twisted into something negative. (She's probably right. Why did that happen?)

This always makes me laugh, because when I was in college, "progressive" was considered a code word for "communist."

That's funny -- when I was in college "progressive" was a code word for King Crimson and Emerson Lake & Palmer.

Bad news, LAGuy. It's still a code word for "communist."

And so they start on "progressive." Columbus Guy just gave the answer to your question, LA Guy.

Its sometimes irritating the way that perfectly reasonable words get attached to partisan clunkiness of the day.

Of course Liberals disagree with Libertarians on many but not all issues and worry about being classed with Liberationists while Liberators tend be all over the board (from Fidel to the the Coalition of the Willing).

Of course Conservatives don't tend to share values with Conservationists and those who Conserve.

Progressive are subject to the posts about but those who promote Progress are often aligned with Conservatives but not Conservationists.

Ok my Andy Rooney moment is over.

Well, anonymous, I'd be careful. LAGuy's frame of reference probably begins with the time when "liberal" meant "conservative."
