Some People Never Learn
Here's an interesting little piece on the left's (or at least some of the left's) obsession with neo-Nazis. For some reason, the left needs to "magnify a tiny, highly marginalized, wacky subculture of racist socialists" into a serious threat. As the piece notes, ironically, outside some of their racism, these Nazi's political views are actually quite similar to those of the far left. Actually, I'm mostly noting this because it gives me a chance to beat up on one of the silliest films ever to come out of Hollywood, John Singleton's Higher Learning (1995).
The movie's about racial tensions (among other things) on campus. The main white male character has trouble adjusting, and so, naturally, falls in with the local, sizable gang of neo-Nazi skinheads.
I admit I haven't spent a lot of time on campus lately, but I recall back in my day the neo-Nazi lodge wasn't nearly as big and popular as shown in the movie.

The Bush Justice Department counts as "some of the left"?
Leaving aside your logical era (A is obsessed with something, therefore none of non-A is obsessed with the same thing), when and where did the Bush administration blame a whole lot on neo-Nazis? No one likes them, and everyone is willing to go after them (thus proof of how little influence they have), but I honestly don't recall any speeches or actions during the Bush years that raised the spectre of any serious danger to the republic from them.
