You Don't Say

I've already noted have many politicians have had amazing reversals when it comes to their attitudes toward protest, so I'll ignore it in discussing Nancy "fan of disruptors" Pelosi, who teared up at the fear that anti-Obama rhetoric may lead to violence. But even then, these words of hers got to me: "this balance between freedom and safety is one that we have to carefully balance."

No, it's not the redundancy. I just get the willies when politicians talk about balancing our freedom with some other concern. And when it comes to freedom of speech in particular, I question if politicians are the best ones to strike that balance.

Nancy Pelosi could say its raining and get criticized being an arrogant liberal making scientific pronouncements. I guess its payback for the comments on Bush but sheesh.

This was a banal nothing statement uttered by a banal nothing person (definition of successful politician)

Come now, this was a disgusting statement by one of the highest-ranking politicians in our land. She said nothing or supported the most vile language and activities against our previous President (and our country in general) for years, and now that our current President is being criticized one-tenth as much, she implies it's a national emergency, that the protestors are seriously unhinged, and that she's fearful a reign of violence is about to sweep across our nation. She was so disturbed (or claimed to be) that she couldn't control her emotions, though her only problem is she's in charge now and some in the country have the nerve to complain. Even supporters of Pelosi should be repulsed at this display.
