Econ Recon

So the recession was officially over in June 2009. Good news, I suppose.  The question for politicians is the lag time--how long will it be before voters feel it's over?

Usually we start feeling better faster.  I get the feeling there won't be much movement until unemployment goes down significantly.  When the recession ended, unemployment was actually slightly lower than it is now.

Yep, the Great Recession is over!

[Official National Unemployment Rate = 9.6%. Actual National Unemployment Rate = 22%.]

Whew, that was a rough year and a half!

[Current National Debt = $13.5 Trillion... and growing.]

Glad everything's back to normal now!

[Next week: U.S. declares wars on poverty, racism, and illegal immigration won!]

It was in 2003 when Bush saw the highest unemployment of his two terms. It got slightly above 6% and his opponents were calling it the worst economy since Hoover. If we could get it that low again, I guarantee Obama fans would declare Mission Accomplished.
