Retractions, Anyone?

Yesterday, LAGuy approvingly discussed a WikiLeak-ed diplomatic cable's revelation that Michael Moore's film Sicko was banned in Cuba for being a "mythically" favorable view of Cuban health care that Cubans would naturally recognize as false and reject. One problem -- Michael Moore has since shown that the story told in the leaked cable is wholly false. Moore cites to contemporary news accounts of the film being released in Cuban theaters and shown on Cuban national tv. Who wants to bet that the only thing resembling a retraction from Fox, Reason, American Spectator, Hot Air, LAGuy, NewsPatriot, BackyardConservative, etc. is something along the lines of "Communist dictators will always go for the biggest lies! We should never have doubted that!"

LAGuy had already commented on the uncertain provenance of wikileaks stuff. I'll worry about Fox when you worry about the lib organs worrying about Duranty, et al. They're still much more worried about a commie-critic being sufficiently polite than they are about commies.

You may want to pause your knee-jerking long enough to reread my post and note that two of the sources I listed are commonly viewed as "lib organs." I'm just frustrated by folks who say "aha, x is final proof of y!" Then when reality turns out to be not-x, there is never a thought that maybe it's not-y that follows.

Shoot. My apologies. I didn't bother listing the two "lib organs." Ah well, I guess I'm just like the rest of them. Please resume knee-jerking at will.

Moore hasn't proved at all the cable is false or the facts inside it are false. All we have (even assuming what he says is true) is that the film was shown in Cuba. Doesn't mean there was no reaction to it from officials.

So Moore is claiming this is propaganda. From whom? From Julian Assange, to hurt him? Or from a secret official sending a secret message to hurt Moore, knowing years later it would be spread to the world?

No matter how you slice it, the real apology owed is from Moore, who persists in his communist propaganda. Whether Cuba supports his crap or not is secondary.
