The Black Knight gets a lick in

"Ohio Gov. John Kasich vaulted into the top tier of GOP presidential contenders."

Plus the Iron Law of Presidents: "Since World War II, either the winner or runner-up in New Hampshire has gone on to take the GOP nomination."

America can only hope that South Carolina voters have more brains than the "Live Free or Expand Medicaid" voters. But even if they do, this blunder means we'll be listening to this guy for weeks.

Twenty points behind with 16% doesn't seem like much of a runner up but yes its a weird year in a crowded field.

Right now he has staked out the "non-crazy-sounding" lane but the rigors of campaigning in the south, he will probably drift out of that soon -something along the lines of a contest with the others of how much torture they'd be willing to authorize

CG may have to concede that Kasich could go to the Convention. All he has to do is make it to March 15th, the Ohio primary date, which he probably would win (66 delegates). Super Tuesday could be tough on him, but he could come in first or second in Alaska, Colorado, Minnesota, Vermont and Wyoming. And if Rubio takes Florida on March 15th, the two could team up, one deferring to the other to lead the ticket. And that would, imho, still be the strongest chance of winning for the Republicans.

You should be most angry at Christie. His take down of Rubio helped Kasich the most. Boy I hope he drops out today.

A lot depends on how weakened Rubio is. If he's hurt enough, there's no guarantee he takes Florida. Could be Jeb or a third person who walks in when they split the vote.

In any case, the biggest winner in all this is Trump. Thanks, Chris.

Kasich is a non-entity, so I'm much happier that Christie took down Rubio than I would have been if he had knocked out Kasich. Rubio would have been a problem.

Could he be president? Sure. Obama is, so why not?

But God help the country. We've pushed our luck beyond all reason. I doubt that we can avoid the reckoning, but I'd like to see us try.
