The Man Who Started It All

There are so many shows on TV where a panel shouts at each other about politics that you can barely count 'em. But in the days before widespread cable and 24-hour news channels, the man to watch was John McLaughlin, whose McLaughlin Group essentially created the form and also set the gold standard.

His show started lurching into the truth in 1982 and continued up until he died.  So let's say goodbye to John.

The only TV Politics show I watch (watched?) with regularity. I started in the days when standard guests were Morton Kendrake and Jack Germond (and of course Buchannen and Clift). You could alsways count on their end of show predictions to be all over the place (as your clip shows). This political year just got even worse.

I used to watch it back when Kondracke and Barnes were reasonable. I think John Mc. bit and infected them
